Education first - Alfred University's athletics staff is committed to combining the virtues of athletic competition with the academic rigors of the classroom.

Athletic tradition - Alfred University's tradition in intercollegiate athletics goes back more than 100 years and is as strong today as it has ever been.

NCAA Division III - AU sponsors:

• 11 varsity women's sports (Alpine skiing, basketball, cross country, lacrosse, soccer, softball, swimming and diving, tennis, indoor and outdoor track and field and volleyball)
• 10 varsity men's sports (Alpine skiing, basketball, cross country, football, lacrosse, soccer, swimming and diving, tennis and indoor and outdoor track and field)
• One co-ed varsity sport (equestrian).

Eastern College Athletic Conference - AU is also affiliated with the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) which sponsors championships in 20 men's and women's sports at the Division III level.
